  • House 5 was originally constructed in 1970 when the property was being developed as the Sheriff’s Boys Ranch by the Alabama Sheriff’s Association.  The house was known

  • as the EBSCO House in honor of the Birmingham based corporation that provided significant funding for its construction.

  • In its current configuration, House 5 has 8 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 kitchen areas, 2 laundry rooms, 2 den/family rooms, 4 HVAC units, and several areas for misc. use or storage.

  • The house is approximately 5500 sq. ft.

  • Estimates for a full renovation of the house are $250,000.  This will provide for some interior configuration modifications to be more foster family oriented as opposed to being more like a dormitory.

  • Since announcing the decision to move forward with this project, we have received almost $150,000 in donations from church partners, individuals, civic groups, and local businesses.

  • After raising $100,000 towards the goal, we “officially” kicked off the project through a fantastic local manufacturer, Nucor Corp., who volunteered their team members to perform demolition and cleanup of the interior of the house.  This task began in the early summer of 2023, and we followed this in September by installing a new roof for the house.  We have performed several other smaller tasks since this time through our local church & business partners of the Ranch.

  • With the interior framing and subfloor now completely exposed, we are currently developing plans for how to best reconfigure the interior space for optimal use as a foster family home.  The Ranch foster families have provided invaluable suggestions for how to accomplish this objective.

  • With spring just around the corner, we expect to finalize quotes for materials for other major phases of the project like replacing the exterior siding, soffit & fascia, windows & doors, etc.  When we finalize the plans for interior configuration, we can then begin the framing, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing work.  These phases will provide many opportunities for individuals, civic groups, local businesses, and churches to partner with Circle Ranch to help with materials, labor, or donations.

  • We are developing a list of the various phases of work, the tasks involved, estimated number of people necessary to accomplish the task, and any special skills or tools necessary.  We will post that list to the website for the groups above to review and consider related to making a commitment to complete that task during a “workday”, “service day”, or “Circle Ranch Day” project.

Of course, financial contributions to Bring 5 Alive! are always welcome and necessary to help us reach our goal of $250,000 to complete the project.  These can be made using the “Give Now” button below, or by mailing a check to Circle Ranch, noting “Bring 5 Alive” in the memo section.

Be sure to scroll through our pictures of the Bring 5 Alive! progress and check back regularly for updates related to the project.
